My Wobbly Bicycle, 72

Bookcases are up and we’re sorting, trying to come up with a better arrangement than “yours, mine, and ours.” I’m tired. I’m a little worried about how tired I am. Moving is stressful, but this seems like a preternatural weariness, accompanied by weepiness. Depression? I don’t think so. I would be dashing around, feeling quite happy, if I had the energy. My consulting physician just ran some tests and I’ll see her tomorrow, so maybe that will shed a bit of light. Do I want this blog to be a report on my health? Not really. My Wobbly Bicycle, 70

I’m looking out the window in front of my desk through the trees at two of the unrestored buildings on the grounds of the old mental hospital, a rotting tower, a round turret on another. I am living in a castle, elegant, almost flying up here, with our 14 windows. Sun is pouring into the one on my left, and if I look hard, I can imagine I see a thin line of the bay between the trees and Old Mission peninsula. It is all so ELEGANT. These high old windows, these thick plaster walls, these expansive wood floors. It’s an adjustment from our cute little bungalow on 8th Street, which we loved....
